Desperately wanted to pull the trigger on this today....registration was open for over 20 minutes before it filled up. Thought for sure it would fill immediately.

Unfortunately, Kid #2 is headed to college next year and there is a strong likelihood that the race weekend would overlap with dropping her off....at a minimum helping her get ready and just being around to ease her nerves. Since she doesn't know what school yet, I couldn't risk the $$ and having to sacrifice the slot.

You can always go on a dime and ride Cottonwood west side gravel climb. Still one of the most scenic climbs I ever did.

I am thinking of signing up for Grinduro Mt Shasta Sep 17 and Levi's Growler Oct 3 and spend the time in between riding in CA. The rides are planned just gotta sell it to home front.

Cottonwood Pass in CO? West side was gravel when I rode it many years ago - buff gravel, and stunningly beautiful scenery. Not much air up there.

LSD - correct; I rode the Cottonwood west side gravel back in 2013. Plenty of air for riding but when I got off my bike and tried to walk up to a lunch spot not so much. Stunning indeed.

Between the different climbs I did that trip (Trail Ridge, Mt Evans, Independence, Cottonwood, Sugarloaf) it was by far the most scenic one.

Sugarloaf was the only hard one LOL.

Registration was open for a full 20 minutes this AM before it sold out. Was surprised it lasted that long....especially since I heard that 1100 slots were taken through team deals / early registrants from last year.

Maybe in 2021....

This has got to be terribly disappointing especially since you seem to be reduced to running, is that what triggered it hahaha?

LOL....no, it just looked like an awesome event.

As for running, I kinda have it in the back of my head to give a full IM one last shot next year. I'll age up in 2021 so the timing could be right. But I know I need to improve my run...so I am gonna just try and rebuild my base casually for the rest of the year and see how it feels.

Problem is I kinda have a lot on my Goal list for 2021....DK Redemption, possible IM and SBT GRVL. Could be a bit too ambitious, ya know?!?!?

Three peaks in a 4 months span may be challenging. You will also finally need to learn to swim.

Well, I am thinking about IMTX, which is in April so I would peak for that and just switch my focus to riding after that. Wouldn’t worry about a “peak” per se for DK...would just let my fitness carry me through.
