IMO, The old Cannondale Headshock would be perfect for gravel road/adventure bikes: a lock out that really locked out, way more torsionally rigid than standard forks, and top models were air sprung which means easily adjustable. They still sell some bikes with a 60 mm oil and coil version that would work well enough. But last time I checked, they only sell it with goofy "urban" bikes with super short top tubes and high bottom brackets. I talked a to a couple of frame builders a few years back about getting the shock and fork from C and building a longer TT, lower bb, compliant frame around it. But they were not interested in dealing with Cannondale, or they had no access to an appropriately large diameter head tube.
