This would presumably have been another easy one for Wiebes had she not crashed. That would have made the points competition interesting. Vos described Wiebes as a rocket flying by in the sprints.
Two climbing stages coming up to shake out the GC. There have been some gripes from some quarters (van Dijk) about lack of an iTT for a well-rounded overall competition. Wondering who will take it. Persico in number two spot seems like a small team dark horse who did well enough in Giro.

That's one big goat. Don't mess with it. (Wearing the helmet of a fallen knight around it's neck as a trophy.)

And then there were two. No surprise as to which two.

Wow! I went away when van Vleuten was starting the final climb. Knew she'd win but this? I liked her comment that she had more training. No, not this year but lifetime. (One reason to keep really hard stages in grand tours. This par course looks like field stays together until the final climb boring. No! Instead, the racing I love. Let it all hang out.

I had hoped that Vollering could keep it closer, but no. Beast mode.

Another wow. She made up, what?, 5 minutes? in two stages after being sick and riding her heart out just to stay in contention. She endured potty stops early, then mechanicals on the finale and still did this.
(And I looked at that fancy yellow Canyon pre-race and thought "that was a long night for some mechanic. Looks like a mechanical waiting to happen." And guess what? In the neutral zone! Then either that bike or the next in the race. And I think 3 bike changes and quite a few kilometers on her teammate's bike. No sympathy from her competitors and a key screwup of being dropped by her teammates.
The woman's got a heart as big as her legs. Now the organizers need to step up. That was a ride worthy of a grand tour, not a pre-Tour 8-10 stage primer.
