The drone tops out at 30kph. Coming out of forest it kept having to take a shortcut to keep up.
Funny. That reminds me of going out in a Boston Whaler to video an Australian 18 sailboat. Seattle. Puget Sound on a windy day. So rough we could not run full throttle upwind and do any filming. So we cheated and went straight upwind while they tacked. Downwind the 18 flattened out the water and we could almost keep up.
Pretty funny, being in a powerboat once thought of as pretty sporty and not being able to keep up with an 18' sailboat. Aussie 18 - 18' max length, one hull (no catamarans) and not many other rules. Mast and sail area are whatever you want to put on. (Boats typically have two or three masts and sets of sails and use the appropriate for the day. Ridiculously fast. We watched them run from the Golden Gate to Angel Island in minutes, early '80s when I raced much more pedestrian boats there. Easily 25 miles per hour. The one we chased in Seattle was a more modern, faster boat though in less wind and practicing, not competing. (That crew went to Australia, was given a brand new boat and won the pro series.)
So I know what it's like, being that hapless and slow drone. Only we were so wet we couldn't have flown.
