There is a driver that witnessed me going 20 mph, abruptly stopping and shooting several feet into the air, then collapsing in the road in front of him. (No danger of him hitting me, we were in different lanes, but he got a front row view of the whole thing.) My first fix gear ride when I tried to coast, back in the day when I rode seats high enough to lock my knee. Don't!

I now tell people going fixie to mark their seatpost 1/4" above the frame, drop it to the mark and not return it to normal until they have done their first "coast". It hurts a lot less!

I get up at 4 am to ride in weekdays, and I actually have put my shorts on backwards a couple of times. The only real problem was that I laughed at myself do loudly that I woke up my wife.
