some people have no morals, it's all about getting the "Deal", at my shop, we would keep any eye out for bikes etc....you could tell just by looking, and listening to people if the bike was hot. good on you jm for supporting your local shop, that means a ton to the people that work there or who own the shop. we have a few what I call low lifes, buying brands online that we actually sell in our shop, and then expecting service, and extras, free tune-ups, etc... like the customers that actually bought their bikes from us get.
