Tough question, Spud....Mets are playing GREAT ball right now, but the Dodgers have great pitching. A bit of a "Careful what you wish for" situation.

However, on the face of it, I think I'd rather see the Dodgers. Kershaw still has the monkey on his back re: post-season play (although yesterday helped), but more importantly, their rotation will be off for the NLCS. Kershaw would likely go on 3 days rest and Greinke would not be available until Game 3. Cubs will have Arrieta and Lester on full rest.

The Mets offense right now? Yikes!!! Damn they are good.

Must be in my personality. I became a Mets fan growing up in NY in the '70's...after their first heyday, and when they were terrible. Then I was in college and ignoring sports (except cycling!) when they won the series in'86, then moved back to NY after college in the late '80's and started following them when they sucked again! I've always hated the Yankees. Always. Even thought I was three when we moved to NY, I WAS born in Boston. Has to be something there. It was depressing when they lost the subway series.

I saw a game at Wrigley once, sat in the outfield bleachers. What a fun park. Daryl Strawberry was in the outfield playing for the Dodgers. They were yelling "DAAARRRYYYLLLL!!", and as the pitcher was winding up, he would turn around quickly and make the "suck my dick" motion to the fans. It was hysterical.

Too bad the Bluejay fans that felt the need to act like hooligans yesterday, ruined that amazing playoff game. Great example to set for kids that were there at the game. Women with babys, having to take cover, because a bunch of phucktards, felt they had to protest by throwing $hit on the field. Disgusting to say the least!

If you fuel up a bunch of fans with not so cheap beer in a town that elected a crack smoking mayor not once but twice, that haven't had a descent hockey team for decades, sell them tin projectiles instead of plastic cups, add to that a stupid obscure rule, a ridiculous amount of delay and an equally ridiculous ruling, then what do you expect from a game that seems to condone if not encourage bench clearing brawls. Imagine what would have happened if that ruling had decided the game.

Relax - no one got shot, at least they get that part right in Canuck land. I actually tried to see what all the fuss was about, catching the end of game four but after 15 minutes or so and three commercial breaks was left with the impression of watching a lineup of shopping cards at the grocery store with the register not ringing anyone through. As someone wiser than myself said, without steroids baseball sucks.

LOL!

Well.....fook.

Home team that wins the first 2 games of the NLCS wins the series 79% of the time.

Two things I DON'T want...

1) a blowout

2) some stoopid-ass freak occurrence that gets everyone talking about "The Curse"

make it a 6 game series and I can accept defeat gracefully.

sorry. the son-in-law is an ardent Mets fan. His son (due in December) already has a ton of baby Mets wear. Having the Mets win the Series in the year my first grandchild is born would be a great life talking point.
I grew up in central NY, mostly oblivious of professional sports. My dad grew up in Kirkwood, a St. Louis suburb, so I always favored the Cardinals without any real thought. My mom grew up in Libertyville; one time she asked me why I didn't support the Sox or Cubs -- I had no answer.
Now in metro NY, I favor the NY teams.
So: Go Mets!

I think most of the family has moved away. Not sure if any Lawrences (my Mom's maiden name) are left in Libertyville. More are in Sheboygan.
I was born in Rockford, but I only lived there for three months. My dad was "recruited" into the Air Force as a physician during the Korean War and was stationed on Guam. When I was old and well enough to travel, we joined him there for a year before moving to central NY.

No cable TV. So AL is on for free, but not NL? Not fair. Well the World Series will be on for free. "Let's go Mets!"
