Cosmic: Sage advice but it makes my point about running. Too hard on the body. It is good to be able to run and having a good aerobic support system should serve me well as long as I can run faster and further than the one who is hunting me.

Best line in this thread "It's completely mashochistic that we enjoy the punishment we put on ourselves" this is so true...............
for me these days, it's the MTB rides with the twenty somethings, I get worked 75% of the time, but there are those moments on every ride, and days, where I take it too them pretty good, pull some tricks out the hat, etc.........hurts like holy heck, but, it is sooooooo gratifying!!!
And my wife will say, as she's watching me hurt that evening or whatever, "why do you do that to yourself?"
