Who comes to mind? Working on a character name for a new story. P.S. OC - for another character, what is a Dutch male first name that is associated with being a dick?

Huck - Dick (Dik)? Drawing a blank otherwise.

Prima Donna - he who shall not be named.

Cadel Evans and his toy chihuaha or poodle or whatever the f it was during that post race interview. In another style, more fun and flamboyant... Cipollini, dude was Commedia dell'Arte material.

Lance surely gets a nod for being the biggest dick, perhaps not exactly the same as prima donna, but there is overlap. Lance was a narcissist and a street brawler, at least that's one way of looking at it. (Reminds me of . . . oh let's not go there)
Anquetil and some other famous French stars over the years could be a bit precious.

Just for fun: riders are at other end of the spectrum? Here's a candidate: Gino Bartali. The war split his professional cycling career into two acts, before and after WW2. Both acts were successful. But IMO the WW2 intermission was the zenith of his life, overarching and sublime: he fought the fascists surreptitiously during WW2, and saved hundreds of lives. You can look it up. I'm not Jewish, but I'll borrow the term: he was a mensch.

OTOH, his petty rivalry with Coppi after the war was prima donna-esque.

Having a cyclist character named Lance would be too much ; ) Unless it was a black comedy.

Cadel, or using the last name Evans is the right direction. Just wanting to find something subtle in the characters name that may subconsciously hint at what type of guy he is, although his actions will already support it. It is a bit of fun for me, but does often help with the story. I too really disliked the interviews with Cadel in his high voice holding the toy dog, although I have softened to him, he is the kind of character I was somewhat thinking of... My character will be young, high achievements before he's mature enough to process them with grace, small tics like carrying the tiny dog, opening up businesses under his name left and right - especially fashion - his own line of clothes, wearing the big fancy watches, all the bull$4it that really detracts from being seen as a real human being, instead just another MTV type, Housewives of Beverly Hills, etc., pseudo human being. That description is a little overboard, but hopefully I am getting the point across. Like young David Millar, but a real dick ; )

Enough so that his image takes a full screen and one half.  (But he could walk his talk and didn't need Amgen and a system that would make a Mafia boss proud to do it.)

Agreed, Ben. He didn't have a cadre of supporting corporate lawyers threatening the peloton with litigation like the true Texas douchebag. Wasn't afraid to use his own fists.

Of course, what was never revealed about that photo is that Bernard is about to hit his mother-in-law...

Huck, you have described Renaldo pretty well. Wrong sport, I know.

Yeah, I was thinking about that. Every sport has this type of character. Along with the entertainment industry, music, film, etc.
