Ben - BTW my mom (74 this year) can also be added to the crash list. She was biking with one of her sisters last week and hit a piece of dutch road furniture at speed (she has an electric assist bike these days which I keep telling her she's way too young for having seen her ride last year without). The bike needed some substantial repairs but she dismounted gracefully and came away with minor scratches. I think I learned that dismounting from her. Despite numerous incidents over the many years of riding, my face/head has only ever come in contact with the ground once. |

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully it will be the last time, but if there is a next time, be careful about moving around after that kind of impact. |

Ouch! Get better soon. If you find some scotch, I would lay off the oxycodon. |

Bad luck Ben! Broken collar bones hurt, but usually heal without problems; hips, on the other hand, can be tricky. Make certain you get that looked at. Get well soon. |

Fuuudge (but I didn't say fudge)... that sucks - heal well man. Vicodin or Oxys with a rum and coke make the pills more effective (or so I've read..) (don't be suckered into thinking that dairy products will help you heal [faster]) |

Rum and Coke, Vicodin, Oxycodon... check. Now we need to give him a play list-- Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix... who else 'ya got? Ben's gonna think it's Woodstock all over again. Bob? Get in here, we need your suggestions. KR, you've got the music scene dialed in. What 'cha got? |

Dale, I don't do the Coke. Straight single malt isles scotch, no water is what really does it. And music? Last night I listened to RJ Mishco, a very good blues harp player with a wide range of styles. Doesn't get much better for this guy who has been playing 40 years. Ben |

A HUGE victory! I took a normal dump! At 45 hours after the crash! After my last broken rib, busted collarbone and oxycodone crash it was nine days to anything and 50 before I took a normal one. It was so hard I had to take a shower after every attempt because I would be pouring sweat. Oxycodone is a big GI stopper for me. Busted ribs (only one, slightly this time) and collarbone make compressing one's abdomin extremely painful. Opiate painkillers make that compression very hard to do. I've made it a point to drink lots of water (painful because each bathroom trip hurts!) and eat a lot of fruits and veggies. And I've kept the oxycocone to low levels. Life is good. (There are times when the really big victories are the small stuff. Ben |

OMG hope you saw a doc and got xrays. Broken ribs are the worse. i don't want to talk about my crashes as i don't want to jinx myself. Although, my first nasty crash was caused by a blown front tire and I fractured 5 ribs. Ouch.... |

I haven't said a word to a doc about the rib. What's he going to do. A couple of hundred $$s of X-rays, a couple more consultation to tell me "There's not much we can do. It will heal itself. Come back in two weeks." I did see the doc for the same bucks and advice for my shoulder. Sometimes clavicles need to be pinned. But the rib? In a few years I'll get another chest X-ray and the doc will tell me "Looks like you broke this rib a while back." "Thanks. I knew that." Ben |

Jeez - While I was posting five went up. Ben I had the same problem with Oxy. Fruits, water and fiber did not help at all, I even did prune juice and coffee by the gallons. NADA |
