I hear ya, ben, but the problem is that there are WAY too many docs who are willing to say "Oh, feeling a little tired these days? Here's a scrip for some Andro."

Jeez, go down to the Miami area or Scottsdale and see how many "Aging Clinics" there are......

Like I said, if a guy is taking T and riding as a MOP kinda guy (either as a Categorized rider for USAC or Age grouper for USAT), I really couldn't care less if theya re taking T. But when you start getting to the front of the line and getting wins / placements, and you don't have a TUE? Different story, IMO.

CK speaks the truth. Docs are willing to give men anything they ask for. I was at the urologist and I literally just MENTIONED all the ED drugs on the market and the ads and he immediately shot back, "have a issue? you need some?"

EASY my brother...just asking.

Oh, I believe a TUE should be required, AND the doctor accountable for subscribing it. Not claiming for a second this is easy.

But is this guy "cheating" to finish mid-pack in a Cat. 4 race? Clearly not....but what happens if (when?) he starts to get results? How do you handle that situation?

It is a murky road ahead.....

We had this exact situation happen here in Ontario. Masters racer, nationals podium placer, gets busted for T, seems unrepentant. Long discussion on ST about it: http://forum.slowtwitch.com/gforum.cgi?post=4093825; (apologies for bringing up ST again)

what if he tries to get the TUE but gets denied? can he still race with T in his system if he says up front "i'm on T but i couldn't get a TUE"?

Well, I suppose he can.....but he is asking to get a suspension.

I have heard of guys signing up for triathlons and advising the RD ahead of time that they are taking T and to have their results nullified. But that is a different animal than bike racing....largely an individual effort.

I think guys need to be honest about their Walter Mitty ways as it pertains to cycling. Dude in the article should just find his local fast group ride and be happy.

true dat.

Geez Keith, if that was the case my Nephrologist would give me EPO every time I ask for it.

Maybe I need to ask him a different way?
