How well does that head shock work?

Haven't ridden it myself, but lots of reports that the new, updated system is a significant step forward vs. the previous design. The damping makes a big difference.

The revised elongated geometry is also supposed to be very good, providing additional stability, etc.....but sounds like the front end can get a little twitchy at slow speeds, as a result (especially climbing in turns).

Cycling Tips just did a long-ish term review of it....

I can only comment on the older version of future shock which, unlike the current version, wasn't lockable. I hated it equipped on a Roubaix going up Mauna Kea. Too squishy riding out of saddle uphill. Too floaty riding downhill (it felt like riding on a semi flat tire). I've never been one for suspension or comfort though.

I could see it being useful on flatter rides. Also now that it is lockable, any disadvantage basically has disappeared. Sagan (and a few others) have been using it for some time (a lockable version). In fact CK and I had some disagreement about what he was or wasn't doing with it (for show or what?) during Roubaix one year.

Wasn't the disagreement over whether he was using an allen wrench to tighten his stem, as the announcers claimed? IIRC, everyone was all ga-ga about his calm demeanor and skills to be able to tighten his stem during the race....I basically called BS because if you saw the amount of turns he "took" with the wrench, there is no way he could have ridden with the stem that loose.

How locked out is locked out? MTB lockouts are lockoutish, and vary from brand to brand.

I’d also suggest taking a look at the Giant Revolt line of gravel b8kes....excellent values, can accommodate 700c or 650b wheels. At home on a group ride with slicks or on gravel w/ knobbies.
