Orange/White and White/White colourways to choose from for Marianne Vos’ new team
Rabobank is inviting fans to select from two different designs for the kit to be worn by its new women’s team, which will be built around Dutch sensation Marianne Vos from 2012. Since the team is a separate entity from the WorldTour and Continental teams, with a number of different sponsors, the women will wear a slightly different kit from the men.
Both designs are similar to the current men’s team kit however, with predominantly blue shorts trimmed with orange and white. The women’s designs both share the horizontal blue stripe across the chest, but, where the men’s jersey is mostly orange, one design is mostly white, while the other has an orange top half.
The women’s kit will be made by Swedish clothing company Craft, where the men’s has been made by Dutch company AGU for many years.
So far the Rabobank team has announced the signing of nine riders; Vos will be joined by current Nederland Bloeit teammates Annemiek van Vleuten – the World Cup winner – Marieke van Wanroij and Sarah Düster. The team has also taken on Dutch juniors Thalita de Jong and Rebecca Talen, Roxane Knetemann, the daughter of former World champion Gerrie, Australian Lauren Kitchen, and Belgian time trial champion Liesbet De Vocht, who rode with Vos in 2009/10.
Whichever of the two designs is chosen, Vos herself will rarely be seen in it for the first part of the season at least. The 24-year-old will continue to wear the rainbow bands of World champion in cyclocross; she is Dutch road and time trial champion, and so will be dressed in the red, white and blue driekleur when racing on the road.
Those wishing to express a preference on the two kit designs can do so by taking part in the poll on the team’s Facebook page: www.facebook.com/rabosport.
