Peloton supports six year old fighting Leukemia

Edvald Boasson HagenA number of professional riders are donating items to try to raise funds for the treatment of a six year old who has been suffering from Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia for over a year.

The spare Tour bike of Edvald Boasson Hagen (Sky Procycling) is currently up for auction in a Pros Closet Ebay auction, and the proceeds will go towards covering the ongoing costs of the family, who have asked not to be named.

Their son faces a further two years of chemotherapy, and the proceeds of the auction will be used to offset any costs not covered by medical insurance.

Boasson Hagen’s bike is a 55 cm Pinarello, one of a limited number in the green colouring used by Sky Procycling during the Tour de France. It is listed as being in as-new condition. The auction runs until November 21st and can be viewed by clicking this text.

In July several items were auctioned off for the family, including a Trek Madone 6 pro road bike autographed by Chris Horner, Levi Leipheimer, Ben King (Team Radio Shack), Andy Schleck (Leopard Trek), Taylor Phinney (Team BMC), Axel Merckx, Bob Roll and Grey’s Anatomy actor Patrick Dempsey.

Various autographed jerseys were also put up for bidding, including those from Chris Horner, Thor Hushovd, Levi Leipheimer, Ben King and the BMC Racing Team.

More pro items are expected to be auctioned in the near future, including Mark Cavendish’s SRM head unit from the Tour de France.
