Team Quick-Step rider Kurt Hovelijnck crashed heavily this morning during a training ride. Hovelijnck was taken immediately to the intensive care unit at Universitair Ziekenhuis di Gent. (Gent Hospital).
He's been diagnosed with cranial trauma which for the time remains unstable.
Quick-Step is a team has been plagued with injuries over the past month, but because of their depth they have still been able to post good results. With the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix on the horizon the form is looking good for team leader Tom Boonen and his new lieutenant Sylvain Chavanel.
Stijn Devolder, Sebastien Rosseler, Jerome Pineau, Wouter Weylandt, and Steven De Jongh have all suffered setbacks during their build-up for the Spring Classics. Rosseler will definitely be missing from the classics lineup due to a serious crash in the Volta ao Algarve.
