Triple Tour de France winner Greg LeMond will line out on Sunday in the Tour of the Battenkill pre-race event, the Bike Marathon.
The former top pro was previously confirmed for the 22 mile event, enabling people of various levels to ride alongside the 1983 and 1989 world road race champion.
A strong turnout is expected for that ride, particularly as approximately 3,000 will take part in tomorrow’s 63 mile Pro/Am event. The latter is part of the Great American Cycling Series this year.
The pro race on Sunday will see a host of big teams taking part, including the Pro Continental Team Type 1-Sanofil and United Healthcare Pro Cycling squads, plus overseas teams IG - Sigma Sport and Team Raleigh-GAC from Britain, plus the Canadian Garneau/Quebecor, Jet Fuel, Team Medique p/b Silber Investments, Équipe cycliste EKOÏ.com/Gaspésien, OCTTO presented by Cervélo and Ride with Rendall teams.
The strong lineup will be completed by 21 US teams, including many Continental squads.

LeMond is guest of honour this weekend, and will today start things off this morning with a book signing alongside Bill Humphreys, author of The Jersey Project [both pictured].
Partial proceeds of Sunday’s marathon ride will go to the 1in6 foundation, of which LeMond is a founding board member. He will be riding the event in support of the foundation, which seeks to help men who have been sexually abused as children.
The main race will follow the Bike Marathon ride and organisers state that up to 200 professionals will take part. The 124 mile race is billed as the hardest one day event in the USA.
It is one of seven UCI-ranked races in the US and one of eleven 1.HC races on the USA Cycling's National Racing Calendar.
