Having ridden for six seasons thus far with the Astana team, Maxim Iglinskiy’s best year to date has resulted in a new deal with the squad. The 31 year old Kazakh has renewed for two seasons more and will remain part of the setup until at least the end of 2014.
“2012 has been a great year for me and the team. My race win at the Liège-Bastogne-Liège was a special moment and shows just how far we have come,” he said. “It was an easy decision to sign for two more years, and I am looking forward to training hard and competing for race wins in the future.”
In addition to that Liège triumph, which saw him catch and drop the Italian Vincenzo Nibali in the finale was preceded by second in the Strade Bianche race.
While his season has been quieter since then, team manager Giuseppe Martinelli underlined his value. “Maxim is an important member of Pro Team Astana. His first place at Liège-Bastogne-Liège was a brilliant win, and I am very pleased that he has committed to the team through to 2014,” he stated. “We are developing an exciting stable of riders and Maxim has a bright future ahead of him. I look forward to more success for him and the team.”
