Encouraged by the strong showing of Nairo Quintana this year, who took results such as victory in the Vuelta a Murcia and a stage in the Critérium du Dauphiné, the Movistar team has signed up another young Colombian rider to the squad.
The 21 year old Argiro Ospina has been given a contract by the team for 2013 and 2014, and will move from the Gobernación de Antioquia squad.
He showed his talent this year with a win on one of the toughest stages of the Clásico RCN, and also landed a stage of the Vuelta al Tolima.
The Movistar team will hope that he can grow into a strong climber on the WorldTour level, and will guide his development from this point onward.
It said in a statement what had attracted its attention. “The South American rider was one of the biggest revelations in the recent Clásico RCN, where he won one of the most demanding stages in the races against some of the very best competitors in the Latin scene, showing his bright future on the climbs.”
