LPR-Brakes Farnese Vini rider Lorenzo Bernucci has been hospitalized after a road accident that happened yesterday morning. The rider was training on the roads in the province of Pistoia, and when riding through the locality of Santoruvo of Quarrata he was involved in a serious crash.
Bernucci ran into a car that stopped suddenly in front of him to let a pedestrian cross the street. The Italian tried in vain to avoid the impact with the car, and ended up going head first through the car's rear window.
The Italian was immediately taken by ambulance to Pistoia Hospital, and was later diagnosed with fractures of the nose and head, several haematomas, and deep wounds under the eye and on his chin.
He was later taken to the Santa Chiara Hospital in Pisa, where he will undergo further examinations. He is expected to be off the bike for at least three months.
