Wednesday, May 20, 2009 Valverde takes Volta a Catalunya third stage by VeloNation Press at 5:13 PM EST   comments Categories: Pro Cycling, Race Reports and Results, Volta a Catalunya   Spaniard Alejandro Valverde of the Caisse d'Epargne team won the third stage of the Volta a Catalunya on Wednesday. David de la Fuente came in second with young Irishman Daniel Martin finishing third. Valverde victory came in the 182.9km ride between Roses and La Pobla de Lillet, and maintains his overall lead in the race. Stage: 1. Alejandro Valverde (ESP/Caisse d'Epargne) 4h 46:53 2.
