Yesterday’s opening day of the Amsterdam Six saw a ferocious battle between the Belgian pairing of Kenny De Ketele and Gijs Van Hoecke (Deelen Verswaren) and Dutch rivals Nick Stöpler and Yoeri Havik (AA Drink).
The tussle between them and the other riders raged in front of the passionate Dutch crowd, with De Ketele and Van Hoecke eventually ending the first day just one point ahead.
Boretti duo Leif Lampater (Germany) and Raymond Kreder (Netherlands) ended up third, ten points off the leaders.
They and fourth placed duo Jens Mouris and Wim Stroetinga (Vlasman) gained at least one lap over the other nine teams in the race but with five more days left, there’s plenty of racing yet to take place and everything can change.
