A celebration of the skill, slog and difficulty of cyclo cross racing and the hardships that participants undergo in the course of the sport will be documented in a new book entitled Endure: Ballet in the Mud, as well as a photo exhibition opening on November 7th.
The book is written by Gary Boulanger and features the work of four Wisconsin-based photographers, namely Peter DiAntoni, Darren Hauck, Jeffrey Phelps and Dave Schlabowske. Between them they have taken more than three hundred photographs highlighting the mud, grit, struggle and spirit of cyclo-cross racing, with those images being taken at the 2013 USA Cycling national championships in Verona, Wisconsin.
“The cycling industry has been a huge part of our work for more than two decades,” stated Ken Hanson, CEO and founder of Hanson Dodge Creative, which will showcase the work between November 7th and February 28th 2014.
“Showcasing this stunning photography is a great way to bring the cycling and creative communities together. The show celebrates our ongoing commitment to the cycling industry and supports the efforts of Wisconsin Bike Fed.”
After an invitation-only event on November 7th, the exhibition will open to the public the following day and is free to enter.
A portion of the book sales will benefit the Wisconsin Bike Fed, with it being available from selected outlets in November.
Endure: Ballet in the Mud exhibition will take place at Hanson Dodge Creative, 220 E. Buffalo St., in Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward. See the video below for details.
