In response to the declarations made Giuseppe Petito, the Manager of the Italian team Ceramiche Flaminia, the International Cycling Union will not prevent the Dane from being signed to a team.

According to the UCI, UCI ProTour manager Alain Rumpf never spoke with Petito about Rasmussen.

In a meeting hold on June 5 with Mr Roberto Marrone of Ceramiche Flaminia, the Humanplasma scandal in Austria surrounding Stefan Matschiner was never mentioned.

The UCI would also like to make it clear that there is no such thing as a rider’s “blacklist” at the sport's governing body.  That being said, the UCI strongly rejects the attitude displayed by Rasmussen, but nevertheless, will not to oppose his return to competition.
