After the release of images yesterday of the Movistar team’s new kit for 2014, as designed by the Scottish company Endura, more photos of the new products of the Spanish WorldTour squad have emerged.
The team and its new bicycle supplier Canyon have unveiled the three bikes that the riders will use in the world’s top races in 2013, specifically two road race machines and one time trial bike.
According to Movistar, the team’s top riders Nairo Quintana and Alejandro Valverde will favour the Aeroad CF aerodynamic road frame in 2014, although they will also have the option of using the Ultimate CF SLX machine.
The latter has more regular tube shapes and is lighter, and so may well be utilised by Tour de France runner-up Quintana and Vuelta a España podium finisher Valverde in the mountains.
The same machines will be offered to each of the other riders in the team. All will also have use of the Speedmax CF time trial bike for races against the clock.
Images of each of the bicycles can be seen below; click on the photos to view large version.
The machines will be kitted out with Campagnolo Super Record EPS groupsets.
Quintana finished second in his first-ever Tour in 2013 and the team has high hopes that he can challenge for a three week victory in the coming season. He remains undecided about whether or not he will focus on the Giro d’Italia or the Tour de France; a final decision will be made later.
Valverde will focus on the Tour and may well also do the Vuelta a España, thus following a similar programme to 2013.
