Former Tour de France king of the mountains, Michael Rasmussen, has shown that he’s back in business, winning stage two of the Vuelta Ciclista Puebla San Marcos in Mexico. The Dane finished solo, almost ten minutes ahead of his Tecos-Trek teammates Bernardo Colex and Gregorio Ladino Vega, on the mountain-top finish. He now jumps into the overall lead with four stages remaining.
Rasmussen was eligible to return to competition on July 25, 2009, after serving a two-year ban for lying about his whereabouts to anti-doping authorities. At the time the news broke, he was in the malliot juane at the 2007 Tour de France and expected to with the race. Despite his position in the race, his Rabobank team removed him from the race and subsequently fired the cyclist.
