Italian Giovanni Visconti won the 64th edition of GP Industria & Commercio di Prato (178.6 km) on Sunday. The rider from the ISD-Neri team beat his two compatriots Francesco Gavazzi (Lampre) and Luca Paolini (Acqua e Sapone) in a sprint finish.

This is good news for Italian team selector Franco Ballerini because it signals that Visconti has timed his form well leading up to next week's world championships in Mendrisio, Switzerland.

The former Italian national champion won the Trofeo Melinda and the Coppa Agostoni in August, and has two other victories on the year.
