PlussBank-Cervélo, the new continental team founded by 2009 Tour de France green jersey winner Thor Hushovd (Cervélo TestTeam), is beginning to take shape. The team announced today that a total of nine riders, all Norwegian, have been confirmed for next year.

The four-year project will work with a budget of € 300 000 euro. PlussBank has taken on the role as head sponsor while Cervélo, the main sponsor of Hushovd’s team, will be co-sponsor and provide the bikes and equipment.

PlussBank-Cervélo becomes the third Norwegian continental formation next to the successful Joker-Bianchi and Sparebanken Vest squads. Hushovd hopes that his team will stimulate young Norwegians to pick up a bike and start racing in a country that’s dominated by cross-country skiing.
