Brothers Velits to Columbia

What has already been known for some time  is now officially signed from all parties: The brothers Martin and Peter Velits move from Milram to Columbia for next season.  The powerful Slovakian twins will be  a real asset for the American team.

Riding for the same team is quite special for them. "It makes a big difference, because we complement each other," Martin said to Wielerbasis.nl. "We always said that when one sins somewhere, the other has to go join the team also. Together we are stronger than as individuals."

Peter had the biggest success for the duo so far, winning the U23 road race at the World Championships in Stuttgart in 2007.  He also won the only race for the pair this year, with the GP Kanton Aargau - Gippingen.  Martin finished second in the national championships in June,  behind  Matej Vysna.

Martin is a day for the one-day races and the Classics. Peter enjoys the stage races, hilly routes, time trials - and mom's kitchen (while Martin is happy with tortellinis).
