The Footon-Servetto-Fuji team has brought another youngster onto the team in the form of 20-year-old Noe Gianetti. The Swiss rider, who comes from the Helvetic Confederation like teammate David Vitoria, is one of the country's best prospects in the sport and the son of team manager Mauro. After bringing on board Swiss health and care marketing company Footon, aside from his young age, it's not surprising to see the team add Gianetti to the roster.
Gianetti's experiences amounts to only two years as an amateur U23 rider, and showed immense promise competing as a junior.
The two Swiss, along with the team's general manager Mauro Gianetti and directeur sportif Daniele Nardello, met at the headquarters of Switzerland-based company Footon before heading to Spain for their first training camp.
Fotton-Servetto is certainly taking a different approach to that of the British Team Sky and American BMC team. Both Sky and BMC are loading their rosters with proven heavy hitters, while Fotton-Servetto looks toward building some of their own. Whether that approach will give the team enough success to keep their ProTour license when renewal time comes is questionable, but in the short term, focusing on developing young riders is a positive result of the team's budgetary limitations.
