Following his second place at the World Cup race in Zolder this past Saturday, Niels Albert announced his ultimate objective is to cap off his already successful season with a win in the Belgian Cyclo-cross Championships.

The World Champion would rather capture his first black, yellow, and red tricolor in Oostmalle on January 10th than repeat a win at the World Championships in Tabor on January 31st.

“If you let me choose then I’d rather be Belgian Champion,” said the young Belgian to Het Nieuwsblad.

“That is a real cross course, in Tabor it will be a gamble with the snow and ice, in that case anyone has the opportunity to win. For this reason I have trained a little less this week so I can be rested and be at my peak for the Belgian Championships.”
