Allan Davis' move to Astana is fought by Quick Step, whereas Murilo Fischer's deal with Acqua e Sapone is not signed yet.
Davis wants to join Astana together with his brother Scott for the new season, but Quick Step boss Patrick Lefevere is putting up a fight.
"Already after his win in the Tour Down Under he wanted a better contract," Lefevere said to Sporza. "And then he comes on December 1 and tells me that he has a new team."
Lefevere is slightly upset with the matter. "If he doesn't pay back a year's salary by January 1, he is not going to Astana. Then I will hold him to his Quick Step contract."
The economic crisis has hit cycling as well. "The times when I can let a rider go for free are definitely over."
Fischer's future not decided yet
Murilo Fischer was reported to have signed with Acqua e Sapone, but the Brazilian said that nothing has been signed yet. "There is a 50 percent chance that I stay in Europe and a 50 percent chance that I go back to Brazil."
If Fischer goes back to his home country, he will likely join Pro Continental team Scott-Marcondes Cesar. In January he would then ride the Coppa América for that team.
