Team Type 1 new recruit Davide Frattini has had a run in with bad luck during a training ride on Saturday near Varese, Italy. The 31-year-old came away with a broken collarbone and a hematoma on his right hip.

"Crashed on my bike and I broke my right collarbone today," he tweeted, of his unfortunate start to the season. Things could have been worse for the Italian had he not been wearing his helmet.

"Thanks all for the support. Thank God I wear my HELMET!," he explained.

After five years with Colavita sponsored teams, Frattini has made the move to Team Type 1 for the new season. According to Tuttobici, he'll be heading back to America to ride with his new team at the beginning of February.
