2008 Giro d'Italia triple stage winner and King of the Mountains champion Emanuele Sella has admitted to taking the performance enhancing drug CERA during the hearing with anti-doping prosecutor Coni.
The CSF Group-Navigare rider from Vicenza, Italy has issued a press release owning up to the fact that he has cheated. In the statement, Sella "honestly admitted to having had access to an unauthorized drug and clarified the context in which he had received this substance." "I have got a weight off my shoulders. I'm conscious of what I did and as a result I decided to cooperate," Sella said in an interview Gazzetta dello Sport after the hearing.
Recently Sella had made pointed comments regarding Ricardo Ricco's positive test result and subsequent admission of guilt. Now it seems the Italian is, at the very least, willing to man-up and pay the price for his ignorance.
