Quick Step rider Francesco Reda underwent an operation on his broken right collarbone at the Herentals Clinic yesterday. The 27-year-old Italian fractured the bone in a crash in stage 4 of Tirreno-Adriatico between San Gemini and Chieti on Saturday. He went down on a descent in the stage’s mid point, just after the peloton had passed through the feed zone.
Reda’s operation went well, according to his team, and he will be able to resume training on his hometrainer after three days rest. He is expected to be able to resume riding on the road in just two weeks time.
