The NRC calendar kicked off today with the prologue at the Redlands Classic, with Fly V Australia's Ben Day repeating his win from last year, taking out the Jelly Belly duo of Carter Jones and Kiel Reijnen, who finished second and third respectively.
Day's time on the 5 kilometer uphill course was 9 minutes and 16 seconds, two seconds faster than Jones, with Reijnen finishing a further two seconds back. This makes it two in a row for the Australian, after winning the San Dimas Stage Race last weekend for the second consecutive year.
Former time trial World Champion Amber Neben again took honors in the women's race opener for the Dare to Be-BMW-Bianchi squad, with a time of 10 minutes and 56 seconds. She finished with 16 seconds in hand over Peanut Butter & Co. Twenty 12's Mara Abbott, with Evely Stevens from HTC-Columbia finishing the course a further 5 seconds back.
