Fabian Wegmann recovered quicker than expected from his collarbone fracture that he sustained in March. The Milram rider now plans to ride the Amstel Gold race on April 18. Wegmann will take a final decision after talking to the medical staff.

Things have been going better, while not being perfect. "I am not 100% painfree," he said on his personal website. "At night I seem to lie in bed awkwardly sometimes and the next day I notice my injury."

He is actively working on resolving it. "This should get better in the next few days, as I am also in physical therapy." Besides the physical therapy he is also doing his profession again. "I resumed training on the road a few days ago and now I am already doing quite a workload."

He was joined by Heinrich Haussler, who is recovering from knee problems, for a first time this week. The Freiburg residents have been going at it in the Black Forest, where mild spring weather has made riding easy.

The hilly terrain is perfectly suited for Wegmann's goals. "After Amstel, I want to do the Ardennes Classics Flèche Wallonne and Liège-Bastogne-Liège. Let's see how it goes in my favorite races," Wegmann said. He still has seven days to get ready.
