Last week VeloNation reported that Cervélo TestTeam rider Heinrich Haussler was back on his bike after an injury to his quadriceps tendon knocked him out of commission for the spring Classics.  Now he has a tentative plan to come back to competition at the Tour of Californa next month.

“I’ve felt well the entire week and have had no pain on the bike. I’m happy and looking confidently into the future where races will soon be back on my schedule,” explained Haussler.

Haussler will be heading from his hometown in Freiburg, Germany to a high altitude training camp in Colorado from April 16 to May 13. If everything goes well and the medical team gives him the green light, he will then travel further west to take part in the United States' biggest event, the Tour of California. His next race will be the Tour de Suisse, which will lead him into this year’s Tour de France.

“We are very pleased that Heinrich is already back on the bike and feeling well,” said Cervélo TestTeam's General Manager Joop Alberda. “The health of an athlete always has priority and we did not want Heinrich to come back too early. Now, everything is looking fine and our medical team is satisfied. We are looking forward to having Heinrich at the start line again.”

Haussler took a dramatic solo win in the thirteenth stage to Colmar in last year's Tour de France, and will now go into the race super motivated after having missed the spring Classics.
