Rabobank rider Jos van Emden has extended his contract with Holland's only ProTour team for two more years, which will see him ride for the squad until 2012. The 25 year old recently confirmed his ability against the clock with prologue victories in the Ster Elektrotoer and the Delta Tour Zeeland, and then followed it up by securing the Dutch national time trial championship.
Van Emden came over to the Rabobank Continental team in 2006 after a year riding for the Cycling Team Bert Story-Piels squad. He was then brought up to Rabobank's ProTour team in September of 2008, and has steadily progressed with the team.
"There were other teams that had interest, but I didn't even look at that. I wanted to stay with Rabobank. With this team I am at home," said van Emden.
The Dutchman credits his success at the ProTour level to the Rabobank program.
"The Continental team allows you to reach a certain level and allows you to become a professional rider, but then the program continues," he added. "You need the first year [in the ProTour] to be customized. The team gave me a well-balanced program so I could digest things and transition. What I can achieve now [as a rider], I owe directly to that [the program]."
