Surgery scheduled for early September

Dimitri ChampionAG2R-La Mondiale rider Dimitri Champion will be out of competition in September following surgery on his right foot.  The 2009 French champion just completed the Tour de France this past Sunday, opting to ride with pain in order to complete his home Tour.

Champion will have a procedure that will shave down the affected bone in his foot, but must first wait for the wound sustained from riding to heal completely.  His team said his skin should be cleared up for surgery by early September, and is optimistic that he will be able to return to the peloton before the end of the season.
