Brothers Schleck, Sammy Sanchez, and Alexandre Vinokourov headline star-studded startlist

The UCI 2.1 ranked stage race, the Vuelta a Chihuahua, will take a backseat to a new event this October: the Vuelta Chihuahua Criterium International. The criterium, routed on a 4.4 mile course through the main avenues of the capital of the province of the same name, will draw some of the sport's biggest names on October 24th to the northern Mexican city.

The list of attendees is incredible, especially considering its North American location. Tour de France runner-up, Andy Schleck, will headline the roster of stars with Olympic Champion and 4th place overall, Sammy Sanchez, right behind. After that, it's a veritable who's who of the world's best, both from the present and the past. 2010 Liege-Bastogne-Liege winner Alexandre Vinokourov, 2010 Milan-Sanremo winner Oscar Freire, 2010 Giro d'Italia winner Ivan Basso, 2010 9th place overall at the Tour de France Roman Kreuziger, 2010 breakout success story Peter Sagan, Mexican legend Raul Alcala, 2010 Tour de Suisse winner Frank Schleck, Alexander Kolobnev, Christophe Moreau, Josep Jufre, Jose Ivan Gutierrez, Rui Costa, Benat Intxausti, Christophe Le Mevel, Julio Cuapio Perez, David Garcia, Francisco Mancebo, and more.

The organizers of the event in Chihuahua are looking to motivate young people to take up participation in sport in general, ElUniversal.com asks, "what better way than to bring together the best riders in the world?"
