Christian Knees will return to racing this weekend as part of the Milram team heading to the Grote Prijs Jef Scherens in Leuven, Belgium on Sunday. The German champion has been out of action since he crashed out of last month’s Eneco Tour; he hit the tarmac just 20km into stage 4 of the race and needed fifteen stitches to multiple cuts to his face.
“On Tuesday, my stitches were pulled and my face looks normal again,” said the German champion. “What remains are the usual results of a crash. The scrapes are not totally healed and my shoulder hurts. But fortunately it doesn't bother me on the bike. The main thing is that my legs are good and I could train well.”
The Milram team also includes sprinter Gerald Ciolek and Fabian Wegmann; coincidentally, Wegmann used this race to make his comeback from back and shoulder problems last year.
