29 year old German all-arounder, Patrik Sinkewitz, is forging a new, clean career following his doping positive for testosterone at the 2007 Tour de France. The rider returned to racing in 2009 with the modest PSK-Whirlpool team, but managed a leap up in 2010 with the ISD-Neri team.
2010 has been a solid year for the former winner of the Deutschland Tour. Sinkewitz scored a stellar victory at the recently completed Giro della Romagna, which goes along nicely with a slew of results including 4th overall at the Volta Portugal, 6th at the Trofeo Melinda, 6th at the Tour of Britain, 6th at the Giro di Toscana, and 14th at the Tour de Luxembourg.
The return to the top level has not gone unnoticed, and Biciciclismo reports that Sinkewitz was being courted by a number of teams, including the Spanish ProTour team, Movistar. Despite the interest elsewhere, Sinkewitz has opted to spend one more year with ISD-Neri, soon to be Farnese Vini-Neri for 2011.
If Sinkewitz can continue to improve as he has over the past two seasons, he could soon form an impressive 1-2 threat with undisputed team leader, Giovanni Visconti.
