Top Belgian talent possibly headed to Classics juggernaut

According to France Cycliste and Biciciclismo, Garmin-Cervelo has picked up another top talent heading into the 2011 season. 2010 revelation, Sep Vanmarcke, looks set to make the leap from the pro continental team, Topsport-Vlaanderen, to the team that could well be able to lay claim to the title of most powerful Classics squad in the world come next April: Garmin-Cervelo.

The 22 year old Fleming shot to prominence earlier this year when he finished a stunning 2nd at Gent-Wevelgem behind HTC-Columbia's, Bernhard Eisel. Vanmarcke's solid season has continued beyond that defining result in Wevelgem - recently, Vanmarcke has managed an 8th at the GP Wallonia, and over the weekend, he took second overall at the Circuit Franco-Belge.

The depth and possibilities within the Garmin-Cervelo team are almost innumerable at this point. Jonathan Vaughters has accomplished the impressive feat of assembling a Classics dream team: Tyler Farrar, Thor Hushovd, Heinrich Haussler, Roger Hammond, Andreas Klier, Martijn Maaskant, Johan Van Summeren, and after an eyebrow raising Ronde this April, David Millar as well.

The latest news comes as a bit of a surprise, as Vanmarcke has long been linked with another team that continues to build up its base as a top Classics team - BMC.
