The next round of the Revolution Championship, the second of this season, will take place this Saturday at the National Cycling Centre in Manchester. The competition is currently led by Team Sky, having gained the maximum 10 points in round 1 and it intends to hold on to its top spot with the powerful endurance line up that includes Geraint Thomas, Pete Kennaugh and Ben Swift.
With the evening’s six-day theme many of the winter specialists will be travelling to Manchester to take part, including Alex Rasmussen and Michael Mørkøv, Leif Lampeter, Andreas Muller and Franco Marvulli.
Marvulli is a regular at the Revolution events and will be in Manchester this weekend to test his form after illness as he builds up for the Gent Six-days next week.
“I had super form until Grenoble, but then had to miss the Europeans due to illness,” he said. “Revolution will give me a view of how good my form is or how strong the other riders are!
“Zurich is my home six-day and so will be my main goal for the season,” he continued. “I’ve never won in Gent and every year it’s a hard battle so to make the podium would be super. My other main goal is to qualify for the Olympic Omnium; it will be hard with all the six-day racing but I’m hopeful I can do it.”
Like many of the six-day stars Marvulli is looking forward to the unique three-man Madison, which will likely be much faster than the usual two-man version and tactically more complex.
Three man is cool,” said the Swiss rider. “We raced it in Stuttgart where I won twice so I have good experiences of the format. It means less time in the race but this makes it much faster so I think it will be fantastic.
“I always love racing Revolution,” he added. “Because of the crowd, the hard racing, the support of all the fans, I have made a lot of friends there, so will always give my best to try to win.”
Marvulli will be partnered in the Le Col team by Jon Mould and Andy Fenn.
