Fast men to the fore once more in next round of the track competition

revolution seriesThe next round of the Revolution series at the Manchester Velodrome, on December 11th, will feature a number of the World’s top sprinters in what will be the penultimate event of the 2010/11 season. The usually strong line up of endurance riders will be complimented by regulars to the series Ross Edgar, Tuen Mulder and Craig MacLean; they will be joined by young rising stars Dave Daniell and Roy Van Den Berg.

MacLean, captain of the CHEP team makes his return to the Revolution series for the first time this season after a busy year racing as a pilot with the Great Britain Paralympics squad. “We’ve had a bit of an odd season in the Paralympics Squad as our World Championships,” he explained, “which were meant to be held around now, have been postponed.

“It’s now in the middle of March, so I’ve had a bit of downtime and an injury,” he continued, “but I’m working hard for Revolution 31 to support Team CHEP. Revolution will be a good test of where I am, and great preparation for my championships.”

The Sotsman, known as “Highlander”, is no stranger to glory in the series as he was captain of last season’s victorious Slicks team.

The series is currently finely poised with the Maxgear team leading Team Sky by a slim 2 point margin. Motorpoint and Le Col are poised in joint third place, but MacLean’s CHEP team is not out of contention for the podium just yet.

“I’ll do my best to score a few points for CHEP,” he said. “Teams can often pick up some valuable points from the sprinters, but with the introduction of some riders, they’re often unknown quantities at this time of year, so I’ll be keeping an eye out and doing the best I can for the team.”
