The Luxembourg team of Frank and Andy Schleck will be officially unveiled at 1pm CET on January 6th at a press conference, which will be followed in the evening by a presentation, according to a media release today. The team, which is still referred to as Leopard true racing – although it has been stressed that this will not be the name it races under – has still to reveal the identity of its main sponsor, although virtually everything else is now known. It now appears that we will have to wait just a little bit longer to find out.
The team will have a distinctly Saxo Bank flavour as the Schleck brothers are taking a number of key teammates with them from their current team. Key names include World and Olympic time trial champion, and classics specialist Fabian Cancellara, Danish prodigy Jakob Fuglsang, and key super-domestiques Jens Voigt and Stuart O’Grady. As well as the riders there are also a number of former Saxo Bank staff, including director sportif Kim Andersen and general manager Brian Nygaard.
So far, according to succession of announcements, we know that the team will be riding Trek bikes, supported by staff driving Mercedes cars, while dressed in Craft clothing; the one remaining mystery is what exactly will be printed on that clothing.
