Cervélo has announced that high-end clothing manufactuer Castelli has become a sponsor of their TestTeam project.
“Castelli is very excited to become a partner of the Cervélo TestTeam and will provide technical race clothing to the men's and women's race teams,” said Steve Smith, Director of Marketing, Castelli. “Clothing for us is not decorative, it is equipment. And we are constantly developing the most technologically advanced solutions to make cyclists faster, lighter, more aerodynamic, and more comfortable. With Castelli's pioneering development in the lightest and most aerodynamic clothing in the professional peloton, the Cervélo TestTeam members will have an advantage in their clothing as they have in the rest of their equipment. Castelli is committed to no doping, and we feel that this team shares our dream of seeing cycling cleaned from this scourge.”
This mission for Castelli will be the same as Cervélo: Take advantage of the expertise available by applying what they learn from the likes of Carlos Sastre and Thor Hushovd and the rest of the team to improve their product. The main focus of Castelli being improved aerodynamics, better protection in adverse weather conditions, and a lighter product.
“We are very excited and honored to have Castelli as a partner in Cervélo TestTeam,” said Gerard Vroomen co-founder of Cervélo. “They have a rich history, but also focus on product innovation. In fact, they beat us to the TestTeam concept by over 50 years when they provided the legendary Fausto Coppi (a personal favorite of mine) with revolutionary silk jerseys to wear in his time trials.”
