Director sportif says team is "even more professional and aware of its values," than when he rode for Riis
Former CSC fast man, Fabrizio Guidi, returned to Bjarne Riis's team for 2011, but this time, as a director sportif for the Danish squad.
Following the team's first big training camp in Fuerteventura, the native of Pisa, was impressed by the level of the team, even compared to his years with CSC in 2004 and 2005.
"The team is perhaps even more professional and aware of its values since I left the team as a rider, and I can already see that awareness in the smallest details in the planning and organization. They are more rigorous than they were then. Precisely that appeals to me, and I know that Bjarne appreciates precision, like me."
The capabilities of the individual riders on the team are unquestioned, but for Guidi, it's the strength of the unit that is most impressive.
"At our training camp in Fuerteventura, I noted relatively quickly that everyone is here to achieve the same goal through loyalty, communication, and vibrant engagement."
The winner of forty races as a professional including three stages in the Vuelta and two in the Giro along with three Intergiro titles is excited about the season to come and appears motivated by the energy and commitment from the riders and management around him.
"I am proud to be part of this team, and I will do everything that I can to ensure the riders the best conditions on the road."
