Van den Brand misses cyclocross Worlds due to bronchitis

One of the favorites for title already out
Daphne van den Brand, one of the big favorites for the title in next week's cyclocross World Championships in St Wendel, Germany, is forced to miss the event. Van den Brand is suffering from bronchitis, according to wielerupdate.nl.

Van den Brand was cyclocross World Champion in 2003 and finished third last year. Besides her cyclocross successes, she is also a distinguished mountain biker, winning the Dutch National Championships in 2003 and 2004.

She was European cyclocross champion in 2010, as well as 2006 and 2007. At the recent Dutch National Championships, she received the silver medal, beaten only by Marianne Vos.
