Two cross races on Sunday split up the peloton. Kevin Pauwels won the international cyclocross in Heerlen, Netherlands, in a sprint against Philip Walsleben and Zdenek Stybar. American Jonathan Page finished the race in fourth place. At the same time, Sven Nys celebrated another win in the cross in Lebbeke, Belgium.
It was the fifth win of the season for Pauwels, who will move over from Fidea to the Sunweb team. Pauwels won the GvA races in Hasselt and Lille, the World Cup race in Pontchateau and the GP Jozef Defoor in Otegem.
Sven Nys shattered the field in Lebbeke, with runner up Sven Vanthourenhout more than a minute and a half behind. Niels Albert came home in third spot. Nys missed the start, according to Sporza, but was quick to get to the front. He started his impressive solo in lap two.
